An exclusive interview with Gabriel Misehouy!

1. Despite this being a strange season, what do you hope to achieve this season?

  • As a team, we set our goals, despite the odd season. We want to win all prizes this season, of course. Due to Corona we can’t play (official) matches at the moment. During training sessions everyone wants to give 100%, so we reach a high level and everyone is challenged during the sessions.

2. You’ve been playing at the club for a long time. Is that still something special for you?

  • Yeah, it is very beautiful to play at Ajax for such a long time already. I learn new things every day and every year. I hope to develop myself further and break through to Ajax’ first team as soon as possible, that is really my goal. That is what I do it all for.

3. How is it to play as young talent in a higher team already? Did you find it difficult?

  • Haha, yeah it was very exciting and I was also very nervous at the start. Especially to play as a 12 year old with the U15’s. Physically, it was not that hard, because most of the time I let the ball do the work for me, haha! I have learned a lot from that period. Since then I have always played in higher teams, so now it is not difficult anymore.

4. What do you hope to improve and develop this year?

  • I want to improve my physical abilities, so that I can handle more at a higher level. I want to be able to play in the U17s for 90 minutes, so I can also keep up with higher teams later. I’m working hard for that at the club with the fitness coaches.

5. You have been in the youth academy for a long time. Do you have a favourite moment?

  • I have experienced a lot of beautiful moments over the years, but for me the most beautiful moments are yet to come: playing the Future Cup, in the Youth League and my debut! I work really hard for it and hope to achieve it as soon as possible.
